- Strength
- Beginner
- Dumbbells
Muscles worked
Main: Chest · Also: Triceps, Shoulders
Measured in reps.
How to do it
- Lie on your back on the floor, knees bent, a dumbbell in each hand over your chest.
- Lower the weights until your upper arms lightly touch the floor.
- Press up until your arms are straight above your chest.
Tip: The floor stops your elbows going too deep, which is kind to the shoulders.
Take extra care if…
- You have a current problem with your shoulders. This exercise puts load through it.
- Done lying on your back. This is not recommended during pregnancy for some of these, so check with your midwife or doctor.
